where would we be without friends/

Up the proverbial creek without a paddle I reckon.

This last weekend nine erotica author friends got together in Scotland for a weekend of chat, gossip, (yeah and bitching) wine and well ....

It was fun and laughter filled, we all get on really well, and it was over all too soon. If you think that little over a year ago we were all non published, only two of us knew each other, and we met on line...

(Yeah, okay I can hear the OMG and argh from here, but hey we are all who we say we are, do have a very wide age range and do honestly get on.) We all agree we were blooming lucky that we all entered an on-line competition to get published, got nowhere, became friends, set up a crit group and *deep breath* here we are today. Of the nine, eight are published or contracted and number nine is almost there.

And to be honest, I think everyone of us would say a good part of the reason we are where we are, is due to our friends in the crit group. We support, sympathize, nag, brag, push, shove, hug, and pimp each other at the appropriate moments.

There's always someone to celebrate or commiserate with you when you need it. Someone to share the highs and lows.

Over this past year we have become true friends, not just crit group colleagues. We may not all live close to each other, but we keep in touch, visit when we can, and are now part of each others lives.

One of the reasons this works is that we are honest with each other. If we have had a rejection we say so. Why not? We've all had them, and will all get them. no point in lying. Hey we all are writers, we know how these things work (sadly, sometimes only too well). But the rest of us are there, knowing how you feel, able to offer honest advice and help you back up on your feet so to speak.

There has to be give and take of course, you have to give and receive ( lol) no doms or subs, toppers or bottomers except in our feverish deviant minds and in our very hot novels ( true, go check 'em out.), and in general we do.

So this is really just to say, thanks to a great bunch of ladies, superb writers, and roll on the next meet up, when hopefully some of our friends who missed this will be with us.

WE Rock!

  3. Personally, I think we should do it every weekend :D

Although many think we're nuts (let's face it they've got a point) we GET each other and I never thought I'd have such a fabulous, diverse group of friends.

    Cheers ladies xx

  4. What a great weekend. I agree with Jorga. We are so different and accepting of each other. I think the differences make us unique!
Thank you Raven for such wonderful hospitality. I really am going to run away and come live above your garage!

  5. What a great post! Friendships are wonderful in any circumstance but I think when you're spending a lot of time in solitary confinement(?!) the words of encouragement from someone who knows what you're going through count for even more. Keep producing great books ladies!

  9. Pity I couldn't make it with you girls this time :.(

And I totally agree, Raven. May we always be true to at least one another - if we can't to our CP's, who can we be to, huh?

    And UCW Rocks ;D

  10. This was so nice to read. It shows everyone that groups of women can work well together. You just have to try a few porridges before you find the one that’s JUST right! Even then, there can be issues with too much salt or honey, but that can be corrected until the group is perfectly harmonious. So make sure you are never counted as the salt. When you are friends then you can be honest and know that no matter what they will be there for you. I know that I will always have this group as friends. They have supported me and lifted me up and even though I’m on a different path right now they have pushed me and helped me with academic as well as creative writing. To each and every one of you, from the bottom of my heart, Thank you for being you!
