and a glimpse of what the future holds for Linsey, the heroine of The Furnace Man. She has no idea what a certain villain has in store for, or who is on his way to help her...
(unedited word vomit)
“So,
we go in and you head everything up, got that, bud?” the voice was nasal, and
if the speaker hadn’t have been built like a shoddily made brick shit house,
Michael might have made some comment about it. What he’d give for the chance to
tell the asshole that he understood the Queen’s English, even if said asshole
didn’t a lot of the time, and he, Michael wasn’t an incipient flower. He hated
bloody stupid nick names.
Unless…
but that was different.
“You
know you can’t shag ‘er but no one would know if y’copped a feel,” the asshole
went on. “Fucking good set of tits on ‘er, and as for ‘er pussy,” The asshole
sniggered. “Does everything needed and some.”
Michael
gritted his teeth. Godalmighty, the man was an out and sex offender that was
for sure. To say nothing of what else they suspected him off.
“Got
ta love Catriona Leigh-Swift. She’s very obliging.” Dutt winked.
‘Yeah,” Michael said laconically. No way were
they going to try and pin that onto him. It was bad enough he had to be the one
to put the receptionist under. Even tho Dutt the asshole said she knew it was
to happen it didn’t make Michael feel any easier about it. The saving grace was
the department was close to finding out what was going on and he could shower
away the nasty sensation of skullduggery.
“Are you sure that its impossible to tell
there’s a body in the sand?” Michael said in a tone that made it sound as if wasn’t
really that important one way or another. “You know bones and bits.”
Dutt
slowed the van as they rounded the last corner before their destination. “For
fucks sake. What the hell d’you think we go to the fucking quarry for? Cos we’re
fucking geo…goe…oh fuck it rock studiers or something?”
Michael
shrugged. “Just asking.” Something told him not to correct Dutt the A’s language.
Regarding geologists or the boring use of fuck every other word. ‘It’s all a
bit above me.”
Yeah well.” Dutt sniggered, as he took
Michael’s words at face value and didn’t see the irony in them. “Some of us
know these things. When it’s all crushed it can go in with the coloring and no
one will notice impuri…thingies. Sorted.”
