#TantalisingTuesdays Maybe...

One picture, two takes on it.

Maybe I should just let it happen? Believe it is right? Let things go as they should and not worry?
Pretend it is all okay? That nothing is wrong. That I do not have that lump of dread, misery and horror inside me. That he is here with me and we are happy.
 That nothing untowards occurred.
And that is about as likely as well...as anything.
Because I have to be honest. If I’m not, how can I expect anyone else to be?
Didn’t he always say truth and honestly or nothing.
So now I have to face up to my future. Admit what happened and deal with it. Tell everyone that no, I’m not all right. How could I be?
I miss him. A big part of me is no longer here. I’m alone and scared.
What should I do?
“You know what to do.” The voice was in her around her, floating on the breeze.
“Accept my kiss. Come to me. Be part of me and let us be together again.”
He bent his head until he was scant inches away.
“Be us. Us forever.” He paused. “Just not in this world.”

His mouth got closer. She leaned towards him and...

#SexySnippets After a rocky, not at all romantic boat trip, fleeing from the guillotine

I honestly had no idea what to post this week. I'm waiting for cover art and a release date.

I decided to go back in time with a #SexySnippet from a free read. Compromised is the prequel for the Cursed Treasure series. I hadn't read it for ages and now I'm in love with Mijo and Theo all over again.

When Mijo escaped from Madame Le Guillotine and set sail to England, little did she know who her savior was, or what he would mean to her.

Theo was enchanted by his émigré, but knew what trouble they could be in. After dodging the French, revenue men, and smugglers, now they had their feelings to contend with. Passion was all well and good, as long as they could weather the storm it unleashed, and solve the curse.

and your #SexySnippets

(where THeo and Mijo are trying to escape from some of Theo's enemies)

He slid to the edge of the river and turned to help her the last few yards. "Wet feet now, I'm afraid."

In the faint predawn light, he saw Mijo roll her eyes.
"As they haven't dried from the boat, I can't see it matters."

She gathered her skirts and tucked them into her waistband once more and her shapely legs gleamed pale in the moonlight as she removed her half boots.

Theo let his body tighten and admire her for a brief moment before he bent and removed his own footwear and slung it around his neck. Why did his arousal appear at such an inconvenient moment?

You can get Compromised for free from Amazon in the UK here
and elsewhere here

#MidWeekTease With a conundrum...Who was he? Cyn's Story

This week I'm teasing you with a few paragraphs of a short story I'm writing for a winner of a Romance Readers Recommend competition on FaceBook... Cyn's Story.

Cynthia Hilyer, this is all yours...

Cynthia sat on the edge of the rocky outcrop, sheltered from the wind by some gorse bushes, and looked at the scene played out below her.
From this distance it looked like ants scurrying about carrying grains of wheat, or sugar, preparing for winter.
Of course it was nothing like that.
Those ants were people, the wheat or sugar large sacks and packs, and the activity was all because of her.
Her and some red headed Scottish laird called Ruari McColl.
Her betrothed.
Cyn pulled her knees up and rested her chin on the thick linen skirt that covered them.
Ruari McColl
What the hell did she know about him?
Not a lot.
In face until this last month she’d never even heard of him, let alone met the man.
Happily living in Rutland, with only her personal staff to look after her, she’d be the first to admit she hadn’t had a conventional life—anything but.
Her mama had died giving birth to her, and her grieving papa threw himself into working for king and country and was never home.

Until...

The Gluten free authors guide to goodies. an 'ode' to ODE

This week boy it's a goodie. Definitely a goodie.

and indeed Cafe Ode at Ness Cove (G-f blondies OMG...melt in your mouth stuff)

But today I'm drooling all over again about the amazing meal we had at Ode Dining in Fore Street Shaldon, Devon.

I almost didn't say where it is, because you know, we want to be able to get a table next time we're in Shaldon. But truly, food as good as this, the best gluten free food I have ever eaten (yes it is that good, believe me) should be shouted about. (Just let them know when you book.)

Tim, Clare and the team have excelled themselves in creating quality, ethically sourced food, that tastes superb. And they go the extra yard for those of us who can't eat gluten. Last year Cafe Ode, at Ness Cove made g-f scones when I said how much I missed them.

There's even a brewery there now, thanks to brewer Andy. Two Beach Brewing company. Hubby is happy.

Anyway back to this amazing tasting menu at Ode.

I really did try to photo the menu but it's too big, so you'll just have to take my word for most of it. (and I was so busy eating, inhaling and enjoying everything, I only took one picture.)

Tim and his team must roll their eyes and groan when I book, because not only can I not eat gluten, I hate cheese. It turns my stomach. But you know? They are great, and so, while hubby tucked into his white onion soup with cheese etc in it, I had the best tomato soup ever. It was out of this world. (Should have begged for the recipe)

Plus hubby got their home made bread, this year, and I got a scone to compliment the tapenade and so on. Not only that I got one to take home as well.

And this is the one picture I did take of my sugar cure haunch of Haldon wild fallow deer, coffee carrots, and black olive toffee, picked shitake and Dawlish truffle. Everything else I ate and then thought damn I really should have taken  picture of that. Hubby reminded me here. Ty hon.

(My mouth is watering as I look at that pic)

This restaurant gets ever better, and it is one of out must go to places. It's even in one of my forthcoming books. After all my hero is trying to impress the heroine and what better place to do it?

Tim Bouget, many, many thanks for yet an another amazing meal.

And on that note, happy eating drinking and reading,

#SexySnippets "Just no?"

Hi and welcome to another #SexySnippets

Seven sentences from a book or WIP

This is from my WIP...

"No."
"Just no?" he asked in an incredulous voice.
"Just no," she agreed.
"You can't just say no."
"Well I did so what do you think you can do about it, force me?"
He considered her in a slow, miss nothing manner, until her body tingled and she fought back the urge to shiver.
"Is that what you want, my love...for never let it be said I didn't do as my lady wishes..."

#MidWeekTease This is how a man's body wakes up...

Where I've taken you back 200 years to meet Ben and Clarissa...
in...

Welcome to #MidWeekTease

To have and to hold?

Reluctant debutante Lady Clarissa Macpherson has never forgotten the forbidden kiss she shared with notorious rake, Lord Theodore ‘Ben’ Bennett, all those years ago. Even now, he’s the one man who sets Clarissa’s pulse racing and her skin tingling – no matter how hard she tries to ignore it!

Yet, when Ben rescues her from the unwanted advances of a drunken Lord at a society ball, she finds herself in a most scandalous predicament – engaged, to the most eligible bachelor in London!

Wedded? It appears so, but bedded? Clarissa demands more from her marriage than simply surrendering to her new husband’s sexual desires, especially when she realises she’s falling deeper in love with him every single day. Ben must prove that she’s the only woman for him – and surrender his heart!

Yet resisting her new husband’s delicious seduction may prove the hardest thing Clarissa has ever done…

Lord Theodore Bennett, known to his friends as Ben, and to his enemies – of whom there were several – as that bloody Bennett, rolled over in bed, and opened one brandy-bleary eye. No doubt if a mirror were handy, the eye would be as blood red as the wine he thought followed the brandy. Or was that before? Ben was more than a little hazy with regard to the previous night’s activities. The last he remembered was accepting a wager that he couldn’t empty the overlarge glass put in front of him, in one go. Had he? He had no idea, but it was a certainty someone would let him know if he owed them money.
Ben sighed, winced as the noise set off a blacksmith’s hammer in his head, stretched, and froze. Why was a bolster down the middle of his bed? A soft squidgy flesh-covered bolster? He patted it cautiously and it moved. He dropped his hand as if it were scalded, and tried to bring his thoughts into some form of order. It wasn’t easy.
A woman? He never spent the night with a woman. Never, ever. Bed them and leave them had always been his motto. And not in his own bed. That was a given. Everyone knew and accepted that. Didn’t they?
Somewhere in the back of his fragmented mind he remembered music and damned doves flying overhead. Doves, for fuck’s sake, and he didn’t even get a chance to take a pot shot at them. Had he been to Vauxhall to watch one of the many spectacles there? No, the music had been ‘churchy’, and … Oh my lord. A wife. I have a wife. The events of the previous day came back to him with immediate and hideous clarity. This needed to be discussed further. He reached out to the softness next to him and squeezed.
The bolster stirred and muttered something. Even in his less than awake state it didn’t sound complimentary. He pulled his hand back again. Soft fingers fumbled over his body, and fastened on his morning erection.
The screech sent sharp daggers of pain splintering through his head. Nails dug into his skin, and that hammer hit his skull with monotonous regularity.
‘For goodness’ sake, woman’ – he hoped to hell it was a woman – he didn’t think he’d suddenly discovered a propensity for his own sex – ‘there is no need to awaken every dog and monkey for streets around. Have you never felt a …?’ He paused. What polite way was there of informing your wife – or who he assumed must be his wife, for surely he was not debauched enough to take another woman to bed on his wedding night – how your body woke up every morning? Even, it seemed, after an excess of wine and brandy. ‘A man’s body like this? If not, get used to it.’

#SexySnippets With a discussion about what's in his pocket ;)

Hi everyone, It's #SexySnippets time again, and this week I've no cover to show you. I've taken my #SexySnippets from a WIP. It hasn't got a title or anything, just some noisy characters rolling around in my head

"Is that a gun or a banana in your pocket?"

What the hell has she said? Morag closed her eyes, cursed her unruly thoughts that just had to be spoken, and the embarrassed heat that rushed through her, and waited for retribution to hit her.

There was a moments silence, then Silas let out a crack of laughter.

"Hey honey, nothing so tiny or boring, it's got to be a cucumber at least, and didn't I hear you say you like the taste of cucumber..." He paused and she opened her eyes just far enough to see him wink and let her reply before he carried on.

"Only in gin."

(Okay I agree those sentences are too long, but I needed to get the whole scenario here for you. I will alter them I promise)
