Thumbs up Thursday...to the bloody midge
Now maybe this should really be called Thumbs down Thursday, because believe me there is nothing remotely good about the bloody midge! It's a blight on your life if you live anywhere within its radius. It sneaks in, bites you and buggers off. You don't even know it's there until you (well I) come up in a big, red, itchy, blotchy, stingy, lump.
Argh.
Then you (well I) spend the next few days smelling of tiger balm. Which when I think of it is most of the alleged Scottish summer.
But I'm doing a thumbs up, because there's actually a positive in this negative. Usually our Scottish summer is two days in May, and the midges haven't sussed that out yet. They don't appear en masse until well into June. So okay sunset is early, but you can have an hour or so in the garden without fishing the blighters out of your wine.
Yeah, not only do they bite, they drink your wine. The horror! I mean the wine! They're not half as keen to dive bomb into a glass of water, or a cup of coffee. Actually, that's just as well, coffee is sacrosanct.
But May, yes it's not too bad. By July, not a chance of sitting out after seven pm, even even if it isn't raining—which lets face it isn't that often. (yeah, looking out of the window at...rain...) Now I reckon I should have shares in every midge repellent in the world I go through so much. One of them is used by tourists, locals and forestry workers alike, even though it's a skin lotion. So we all smell so nice, and for some reason, (well no, because of deet lol) the midge doesn't like it. Well not on some people. On others it's a marriage made in Scotland.
Then we get to September, and the midge is thinking well, its all stuffed full of human blood and skin and stuff (I'm somewhat hazy on the mechanics, and really don't want to know—yuk), and decides it's time to go wherever it goes to. So, outside we go, patio heater on, fleece and woolly socks, long trousers, and yeah for me, often gloves. BUT we can sit out with our wine, and dream. That one day w'll get to do it in June, July and August without the layers of insulation.
until then... well a woman can hope can't she?

Release Me...
Hi Iyana, pull up a chair grab a drink and a gluten free cookie. don't worry, you'll not know the difference...
I’m so delighted and grateful that you allow me to
have you on your blog, Raven, to talk about my new story, Release Me, a Romance on the
Go line by Evernight Publishing.
Blurb:
Taking
a break from dealing with his father’s clients on legal matters, Nicholas
Haynes went out to the sea on his yacht—only to find a man floating in the
water. The man was still alive, much to Nicholas’s relief.
Gregory
Phillips was a private investigator and his last job almost turned him into fish
food if not for Nicholas. Little did he know that the main suspect in his case
was one of Nicholas’ father’s clients. When Nicholas insisted on taking care of
Gregory after the incident that almost killed him, can he trust Nicholas enough
with his life?
Excerpts:
Stanley Haynes threw the newspaper, and it
landed with a slap on Nicholas's plate. The headlines blared at Nicholas as
though his father had shouted at him.
Heir to US Banking Chain Wedded?
"You ever plan to tell us about this,
Nicholas?"
Nicholas glanced briefly at his mother sitting
across from him, but she kept stirring the cooling coffee in her cup. Nicholas
could see a smile flicker in her eyes. He shrugged.
“Come on, Dad. You know it was impossible for me
to talk about it before everything was done.”
“Are you saying you don’t trust me, or your
mom—” Stanley threw a glance at his wife, and his eyes widened. “You knew about this?”
She threw her hands up.
“God, no, honey. I wouldn’t lie to you.”
“All right, all right.” Stanley took a deep
breath, trying to calm himself. “Is it that Phillips guy?”
“Of course. Who else?” Nicholas grinned.
His mother went back to stirring her coffee. Her
voice was calm when she asked, “When was it, Nicholas? How come both of us
didn’t know anything about it?”
“A moment after Greg was released from the
hospital.”
“Wow. That fast?”
Nicholas chuckled. “Yeah. Now you can’t accuse
me of being a playboy anymore.”
“That’s good, dear.” His mother took his hand,
and Nicholas squeezed hers gently. “So those journalists—they just found out
the other day?”
“They’ve just seen this ring, that’s all.”
Nicholas lifted his left hand and eyed the simple platinum band around his ring
finger. Gregory had exactly the same
kind of ring around his finger.
****
A
month earlier
It was the lulling sounds of the waves and the
gentle breeze above the vast, boundless ocean that Nicholas loved most. He
could spend days, even weeks, drifting seemingly without any course and purpose
on his boat, all by himself. After months dealing with his father’s clients
about legal matters, he was always desperate for some time alone. Sometimes he
just couldn’t understand why he had to work twice as hard as the other
employees in his father’s bank when he was his only son. However, most of the
time, he just couldn’t see it any other way. His father was not the type to
want to spoil his family. Everyone had to earn what life had given to them.
Nobody was allowed to simply ask and receive.
Today, though, he ended up not alone.

A little about me:
Iyana lives in Jakarta, a city famous for its
traffic jams, a lot of cars and motorcycles, and people selling stuff on the
roads. You can spend two hours on the road going to a place you can reach in
half an hour in a normal situation. Thanks to the traffic jams, though, Iyana
can come up with a lot of stories, mostly shorties, as she prefers to spend the
time during her trips writing into her cell phone rather than sleeping.
Iyana loves kitties. Right now she has five of
them. Their names are Larva, Nyil, Cil, Mermood, and Horus. When she doesn’t
write, she plays with them, or they would play with her when she writes.
Iyana loves teaching. She teaches English and
her students range from elementary school kids to college students to
employees. She enjoys working with them all. Teaching is so much fun for her.

One
commenter will get a copy of my e-book by the end of July. So please read and

Guardian Possession. Michaela is visiting, and talking abut hidden secrets
Over to you Michaela.
Hidden Secrets
Good morning Raven – ohh thank you for the Earl Grey tea and GF
biscuits. I really can't get my head in gear unless I have my two cups in the
morning.
Do you share everything about your life with everyone?
I guess the answer is no. Certainly for me the answer is a big NO!
There are different people in my life who know me in different ways
because they relate or see me in a particular role – mother, wife, sister or
friend etc – you get my meaning. I don't think anyone knows me completely –
inside and out. We chose to share parts of ourselves with others depending on
the strength of our relationships with them and the trust that has been built
up.
But what about the things we don't know about our lives? You see,
Zachriel in Guardian Possession has had a traumatic experience as a child which
coloured his view of life. Along the journey he takes in the book he meets
Royanne – actually he captures her as part of his mission – he begins to
discover hidden secrets. These secrets are not about Royanne but about his life
or rather past life.
How does this demon warrior cope with the new revelations? Sorry, no
spoilers here – you'll have to read to find out.
I will leave you with the blurb and an excerpt – I do hope you go and
check it out!
Blurb for
Guardian Possession.
Royanne longs to be free of
everyone's expectations. Meeting a mysterious stranger who she is drawn to
confuses her. He feeds her longing to be free and ignites a fire inside of her.
She is aroused by this tortured soul. When he kidnaps her and reveals his plan,
she is torn between loathing him and wanting him.
Zachriel is under orders from
the Dark Master—kidnap Guardian demon Royanne. Only hiding away until the coast
is clear draws him closer to her, especially as she seems to see the real man
in him.
Rescued at last, Royanne feels
uncertain what to do. For Zachriel his past is revealed and he must face the
truth. This truth cuts to his very soul and questions who he really is. Now he
must come to terms with the lie that has been his life. Royanne fights her
feelings for Zachriel. She begins to see him as a kindred spirit. There is only
one thing to do reveal her love for him. Can she convince him her feelings are
real and he is worth loving?
Ready for a little taste? In this excerpt Zachriel is
watching Royanne from his hidden position.
He watched her from the cover of the
trees behind the rocks. He saw her body stretched out in the water. Her face
was calm, her breasts protruded out of the water. They were so round with pert
nipples from the cold water, no doubt. He wanted another taste before the Dark
Master had her. Zach focused his mind on her. He was surprised to find the link
still there, which was odd as he thought her brother had severed it. He
replayed their encounter in the alleyway, the heat of two bodies, and his mouth
exploring her.
Yes, I have her again.
Her body was reading the messages he was sending. Now all he needed was for her
to get out and dress. With her guard down, he could grab her. Escape was the word he sent to her. Her
mind took the word as she struggled with the desire to be normal. Zachriel
watched her swim to the grassy bank and climb out. Her body glistened in the
sun. So lythe and supple, rounded in all the places a woman should be. That
smooth skin asked to be touched, just like last night. He wondered how those
legs would feel as she wrapped them around his waist. Royanne dried herself
with her back to him. He wanted her to turn around so he could see those
wonderful breasts and the smooth juncture at her hips. He projected those
thoughts into her mind and saw Royanne turn. In full view, she stood, glorious
perfection. Those breasts begged to be molded in his hands, those delicious
nipples desperate to be sucked.
What does he do next? …..

Here is a little more about me.
Michaela Rhua always dreamed of writing
but this never happened until she met the lovely group of ladies known as UCW.
Their passion for writing and encouragement inspired her to see if she could do
it too. Now she is multi published and loves writing!
She has teenage children and a husband,
who also keep her busy. However, it is whilst travelling into work that she has
time to create her characters and imagine other places in which they exist as
her world skims by the window. Conversations overheard often lead to the birth
of new ideas that she scribbles down in her trusty notebook.
