The Dispatcher

Death Isle book 1

When Astrid Mickelson found out the man she loved was The Dispatcher—a government operative, who kills for a living without remorse—she left to stop herself from accidentally betraying him. However, Orlando Darke, the only man she’s ever wanted, is impossible to forget, and it seems once more back in her life.

For his part, the Dispatcher had never forgotten the love of his life. When he is sent to bring her in for being a traitor, he does what he does best…dispatching her to safety, to enable him to find the real culprit.

As the threat thickens, so does the sexual tension between them. But can there be a happily ever after in their future?

The boat rocked as he jumped back aboard and made his way to her side. “Right, next stop, ‘The Island’. He turned the wheel and notched up the revs as they left the shoreline and edged into the loch. A groan made her jump.
“What was that?”
Darke chuckled. “The parcel seems to be awake.” He put one arm around her and rubbed her lower body over his crotch. His erection dug into her belly and Astrid shivered as her pussy muscles did their shimmy and shake act they preferred whenever Darke was around. If she wasn’t careful her nipples would poke through all five layers of clothing that covered them. Not only that, her knickers felt damp and chafed her skin.
Oh God, not now. I don’t have time to dissolve in a pile of drool and beg to be screwed. I. Do. Not. Stop it already. Hold on…. “He’s alive?”
“Yeah, I want answers. The fucker drew his gun, so I shot his bollocks off. Bound him up though, pumped him full with antibiotics and he’ll live… for now.”
“You know you never said what you did before you do what you do now,” Astrid said slowly.
He chuckled once more. “Nor I did. Let’s just say I’ve broken my Hippocratic oath more times now than I’ve kept it.”
Ahh. That explained a lot. She’d wondered how he was so competent with that damned syringe. “Right.” Astrid decided not to ask more.
“Have I shocked you?” he asked in a voice devoid of emotion.
Astrid considered his words. Had he? “Actually, to my surprise, no you haven’t. At least you know what you’re doing when you do it. And in a strange way I admire you for doing what you think is right.”
“No admiration due, babe. I’m not a nice guy. I kill for a living. Clean up what other people shun. Work for a boss who I now know at best has a traitor in his group, and he’s done fuck all about it, or at worst, he may well be the traitor and have no fucking morals at all.” He sounded disgusted. “I might be a killer but I’m loyal and I’d never ever double cross my country. It seems someone has.”
Astrid stretched up and kissed the lobe of his ear. It was Darke’s turn to groan. “Hell and furies, babe, do that and I’ll want you to go down on me before I fuck you senseless. Every way and every way.”
She giggled. Oh God she loved him. Love? Love. No two ways about it. Astrid made her mind up and carefully bit, kissed, and licked his lobe before she dropped to her knees. “Can this thing steer itself?”
“Sadly no. We’ll end up going round in circles.”
The parcel groaned again.  Darke kicked it and it went silent. “I hate things that don’t know there’s a time and a place for everything,” he said casually. “Hopefully that’ll do the trick for a while. You were saying, babe?”
“Bugger. Well can you steer it with other things going on?” Please say yes. She was so wet her knickers were soaked and her thighs coated with her essence. Not that going down on him and giving him a blow job would help that state of affairs per se but it would be bloody exciting.
“Yes. I’m a multi-tasker, you know that. Why?”
“Wait and see,” she purred and unsnapped his black denims.

#SexySnippets with, well a snippet!

drops this and runs...

"If someone told you, 'Oh hi, I'm sorry to bother you, but did you know you've been in my dreams for ages, and I've sketched you in my sleep, and now I'm seeing you in reality,' what would you do?" She nodded. "Yeah go hunt out the men in white coats and point them in my direction."
He grinned.
My god he's sex on legs. even better in the flesh.

"Not at all. I'd say it was about time."

(I just think I have to write this—The Artist's Challenge. It woke me up.)

Raven wonders...Is that it? And now what?

Yes it is and who knows?

That's right, the end of an era. Well the end of a series anyway.

Are you scratching your head and wondering what I'm babbling on about now?

The Cleaner. The seventh and last book in the Death Isle series, written under the name of my dark side, Kera Faire.

You see, when I started the series with The Dispatcher, I only thought there would only be three books in the series. The Dispatcher, The Jeweler and The End Game.

Set on an island on Loch Lomond the stories revolve round a group of govenment sanctioned operatives who kill traitors. On the island. With their preferred method of feeding them to the pigs. Who aren't bothered if their dinner is alive or dead. As long as it isn't frozen or only partially defrosted.

I honestly thought three was it.

Then it was the run up to Christmas, and a Christmas story idea popped into my head, and Killer at Christmas came out.

Enough? Well I did think so util I was invited to the opening of a new glass making furnace. Before I left I'd got the 'makings' of the next book, The Furnace Man. Fascinating stuff to discover another way how to murder someone and leave no trace.

Then I realised that actually there were several loose threads to tie in. People we needed to know about and just who the baddies were.

To this end, The Carpenter was published, and now the very last book (honestly) The Cleaner is out.

I'm really pleased to see it out and ready to hit an eReader near you. Not only because it finished the series, but also because it gave me a chance to fulfil a promise and name my hero Rhonda after one of the nicest readers I know.  Now I'll just bite my nails and hope she likes it.

All these amazing covers have been created by the fabulous Jay Aheer and I can not thank her, my editor JoAnne Soper Cook, and everyone at Evernight Publishing enough.
Not to mention my fantastic readers. Let's face it if you didn't read them, where would I be? (crying into my wine) Thank you all xxx

I've loved writing this series, I wish it didn't have to end, but seven stories are enough. The last thing I want to do is rehash the same story over and over, so it's farewell to Death Isle.

Hopefully not farewell to Kera though. Mind you I'll have to wait until my muse tells me what Kera intends to write.

And on that note, I will go and ponder on what to write next. Come on muse, hit me with it.

You can get The Cleaner here

#MidWeekTease with Dan's suspicions confirmed

I'm sorry folks but as this is one fingered typing, this #MidWeekTease may well not be up to scratch.

What do you do when you’re pregnant and you have no idea where the father is?
Ask your brother for advice.
Except Rhonda’s brother, Marcus seems to have vanished as well.
Finding Dan, was a bonus. Getting mixed up with the Dispatchers when there was a killer on the loose was not.
How could Rhonda and Dan sort their own troubles out until every other problem was solved?

It was going to take all the skill of the Dispatchers and their ladies to make this a happy ever after.

With one last careful scan of the area, Dan continued on his path back to the house. Before he reached the building they all called HQ—on a good day, and all things unmentionable on a bad—Darke met him.
Darke. By name, nature and employment. The boss man of the island, but not— Dan knew, the boss man. Darke deferred to Crabtree—in some things, not all—and somewhere there was a higher authority, whom no one talked about. Dan didn’t have a clue who he was and although he assumed Darke did, Darke wasn’t telling.
It made it a mystery, and one that, on occasion, made Dan feel uncomfortable. After all if you were a puppet it was good to know who was pulling the strings.
“We’re on red alert, and no I do not mean stop and do not go there.” Darke smiled grimly. “Our ladies are not the sort to cry red, as I’m sure you know.”
That was the first time Dan had heard any of the dispatchers mention their preferences in the bedroom. Or should that be playroom? He wondered if he’d ever have a chance to look inside, let alone use it. His room was in the main house, not anywhere the couples used. At first he’d felt left out. Now he accepted he had to be accepted in every area of living on the island before certain things were divulged to him.
“I guessed as much.”
“Did you?” Darke stared at him intensely. “How perceptive of you. And?”
Dan shrugged. “Lucky bastards.”
Darke laughed. “Sometimes. Would it help if I said your time will come?”
“Yeah, but I rather think it came and went when I got called up here,” Dan said morosely, and sighed. “Ah well, into every life rain falls. Mine just decided to be a hurricane.” He counted to three and made sure he spoke in a more upbeat way. “Anyhow, not your problem boss. I’ve pulled up my big boy boxers and got on with it.”

“Just as well really.” Darke clapped him on the shoulder. “Something is going down, we need you in the ops room. No cleaning up at the moment, but if you do get a chance for some shuteye, once you’ve been briefed, I’d suggest you take it. Things might be about to get messy.”

out on 25th August from  Evernight Publishing
