I read and I like with SJ

Welcome to SJ Thomas to I read and I like Saturday

Hi Raven

Thanks for having me today.

Ever since I was a child I have loved to read. CS Lewis, Roald Dahl, Dick King Smith, all the classic childhood reads, and that love of reading has followed my into adulthood (though my four month old seems determined to stop me at the moment!).

There is nothing better than a book you can't put down – even if you're still awake at 3 in the morning because you have to read one more chapter! New worlds to explore, characters you love or love to hate and experiences you might never have in real life. For me it is the escape of reading that I love and this is reflected in the main genre I read (and write of course); paranormal romance.

So my bookcase and kindle is filled with vampires, werewolves, shifters, and demons – exciting and passionate and dangerous all at once.  From Bram Stocker's Dracula through to the Black Dagger Brotherhood, via the Lords of the Underworld and Immortals After Dark, I love them all. I might read the odd contemporary romance but for me it's the added edge that a paranormal world gives you that is so attractive.

After all, why just settle for an ordinary man when you can have a sexy vampire nibbling at your neck?

Bio

SJ Thomas writes sizzling paranormal romance and erotica and dabbles in dark paranormal horror. She lives in the South West of England with her wonderful husband, her daughter and a very spoilt Springer Spaniel.

Thank Raven it's Friday TRIFfic books and random ramblings

And as it's the end of some people's working week, let's do the hoola... drink fizz and read hot sex...

And the hot sex is taken from Livvy's Devil Dom...just because...

"You accepted this last year when I first came to you. That was your chance to say no. You gave yourself to me, gave me your total trust and acceptance. Remember?"
She nodded again. Her eyes clouded over, and her expression was somber. Sael shivered. The room was chilled, and the light flickered, as if it was also worried what might happen.
"Okay, tell me the rest. Refresh my memory, and show me what happens next."
Relief filled him. "Thank you," he said simply. "It was always only a matter of time. And now is the time."
He watched her eyes widen again as slowly, lovingly, he began to run his fangs out. He conveniently forgot he had earlier promised her a safe word. He'd pay for that later, but just now, things had to progress. If she was really unhappy, Sael knew he wouldn't force her to do anything. He might be a Devil, but he was one of the good guys. He could only hope that with her help he stayed one. "You need to make yourself come, Liv. Touch yourself and let me watch. Let me see your eyes go smoky and sex-filled. Let me mark you drop by drop until I taste you, bite, graze, and make us safe."

I get a real buzz of satisfaction when I look at a back list book, and think woo hoo, yes this is a TRIFfic book to feature. And I'm writing just what I want.

Well almost, because at the moment my mind is full of the battle of the books to be, and I'm not sure which hero is winning. It's actually making writing difficult, becasue as much as I try to concentrate on one WIP, another three are shouting at me to write their story instead. Argh... Usually I can be disciplined and block out anyone who I decide can wait, but at the moment? Whether it's the time of the year or what, I'm not cuceeding. So nothing is getting done.

*glares at characters, rolls eyes, and blocks ears.*

Give me a chance and let me take you one at a time. *sigh* Okay, we'll toss for it.

Watch this space.

Please welcome Elodie and A Little Mysterious

Hi Raven,

Thank you for inviting me to the blog to talk about my new Evernight Publishing release, ‘A Little Mysterious’.
The book is a Romance on the Go. It’s erotic paranormal romance.
‘A Little Mysterious’ Publishing was inspired black swans and a man I met in my work. I say met, but it was a fleeting meeting. I don’t even know his name. The black swan idea has been with me since I went to Australia on holiday and saw them, flocks of them actually swimming in the edge of the ocean in a place near Melbourne. There was also a tame one that lived on the pond where I was renting a holiday house in Perth.
The man who inspired, Dhruv, my alpha male in ‘A Little Mysterious’ came into the antique shop where I work. He was gorgeous, so polite, and cool that I went to the window so I could secretly watch him walk away down the street.
Dhruv is described in the story exactly like this man. (Laughs)

He’d been sent off course…he thought he was lost…until he found Daisy.

His vampire abilities were special. He belonged to an elite group. Moving home, they are set off course by a storm that lands Dhruv alone, hungry, and desperate in a strange town.
A story of lust, love, and coincidence.

Here's your chance to read an excerpt (G rated)

The sun was warm on her shoulders as she walked to work. Daisy looked forward to the night, as she’d never done before. She went into the cool interior of the bar and sighed in relief.
“Wow, you look very special,” Ivor said. Grinning, he continued, “This has to be for the pale stranger.”
Daisy smiled. “I like him very much, Ivor.”
The older man gave her a kindly look. “I hope it works out.”
Daisy put her belongings in the small locker assigned to her. Her bag held the concealer and a lip-gloss, as well as her wallet. She put her cell phone by the side of her bag and locked the door. Without a pocket now, which she would have if she were wearing her usual Capri pants, she slid the key down inside her bra.
The bar was busy at lunchtime, and Daisy found the afternoon flew by.
She began to watch the time as it ticked past five, six, then seven, and finally eight at night. Outside darkness enveloped the street. Lights on in the late-night stores and eateries threw pools of glowing yellow, white, and pink on the sidewalk. She stood by the window after serving steak sandwiches to a customer at a table nearby, and looked down the high street.
It was nine-thirty when Dhruv finally walked in. Daisy was already shaking from worrying he wasn’t going to show. Her heartbeat sped up. She watched him as he walked towards the bar counter. It was as if the groups of people magically stood back to provide him with a clear path. When he was in front of her, she smiled.

#MidWeekTease with Mac and Holly

Wow it's mid week again, and the last tease until the new year.

So in the spirit of Christmas, here's a tease from Deck Mac Hall...

For ten years Mac had trained to understand the sort of Dom he is. Now he must explain himself to Holly and hope it's what she wants.

Holly has lusted after Mac for years, so when he suddenly announces this Christmas is the right time, she is determined to see it through.

Mac is a man of extreme tastes, and he's not all sure that Holly can be the sub he needs. He has prepared for this time for years.

Will all this preparation bear fruit, or is little Holly going to run away screaming? There's only one way to find out.

I run my own recruitment agency in the city, have staff, and I’m happy.”
“Are you? Really?” he asked, his eyes were more than curious.
Holly decided she now knew the meaning of the expression ‘looked into your soul.’ Her body was scorched by that look, her mind playing hopscotch as it jumped from one thought to anoth- er. She couldn’t help it; she squirmed.
“Happy? I’m not so sure,” Mac announced. Even though his voice was low, the ring of sincerity and authority was clear. “Not missing something in your life? I think you are. That indefinable spark has gone from you. I can provide it if you want. However, Holly, you need to be sure. Very, very sure. I’ll stretch you, de- mand things of you that you didn’t think you were capable of do- ing.” He lowered his voice even more. “But in return, you’ll learn how to fly. And we will be partners.”
Hmm...
“You say that now, Mac, so define the partnership. Because if you dominate me we’re equals? To me that’s a very unequal partnership.”
Mac lifted one hand in the air and his fingers splayed in what Holly decided was frustration with her.
Well, tough. I need to understand.
“No, Holly, that’s where you’re wrong. Okay, maybe some people want that, but the whole point of this is it will be our rela- tionship. Ours,” he stressed. “Designed by us, for us. There is no one-scene-fits-all here. I’d say ask ten couples what a Dom-sub re- lationship means to them, and you’ll get fifteen different answers. But in each and everyone, unless they specify differently, the sub is in charge every time. She or he calls the shots. Didn’t you read my letter?”
“Yes, but...” Holly stopped talking as he put a finger over his own lips, and then moved it to hers.
“Shh, you always did talk too much. There are so many other things that gorgeous mouth could be doing.”
Holly had never before heard such determination in his voice. Oh shit. Her clit did the samba, and her pussy joined in at the pictures that rushed into her mind. She pushed them away and concentrated on what Mac was saying—or tried to. It wasn’t easy when all she could see was a naked Mac bending over her and... No, no. Stop it already.
“Will you hear me out? Please? Without interrupting?” he asked. Only the faint shake of the finger over her mouth showed how tense he was. Otherwise he could have been asking her to make a cuppa.
She nodded, and he lifted his finger far enough for her to speak. “Okay, but I’m not saying I’ll agree with anything. And if I have questions after, will you answer them?”
He looked shocked. “Ah, Holls, of course I will. As well as show you anything you need a demonstration of.”
That was what she was worried about. What if she didn’t like the demonstrations? What if she did? His short descriptions of what he liked had her cream gathering and had resulted in sev- eral sessions with her vibrator. Holly wasn’t a total innocent. Her experience with a hot male body may be almost nonexistent, but her experience with her purple friend wasn’t.
“Yes, well, we’ll see. Okay, Mac, go for it.”

AUTHOR BIO:
Em was born and brought up in the Central Belt of Scotland and still lives there. She was told as a child she had an over active imagination—as if that is a bad thing. She’s traded her dreams of owning her own island, just like George in the Famous Five to hoping to meet her own Mr Darcy one day. But her imagination remains the same.
Unfortunately, Em was put off reading and writing by school and although she rediscovered her love of reading many years ago, she only tried her hand at writing again in 2011. After a year of writing fan fiction, she wrote an original short story for an anthology. This was followed up with two more shorts and 4 novella length books, all published under a pen name. Having fallen in love with a new sub-genre, courtesy of books by Mary Balogh and Lynsay Sands, she decided to try her hand at her new favourite genre for reading—regency.

Having bitten the bullet, she feels she has found her home in the 19th century, and it does give her an excuse to watch Colin Firth in a pair of buff breeches and riding books ad infinitum.
