the lovely Gayl Taylor drops by to talk about Ride A cock Horse and her Naughty Nine

The (nearly) Naughty Nine with Gayl Taylor
This week our naughty nine, have an erotic twist
Welcome  Gayl to Raven's Nine for the Week.

I realize just how busy you are, and how excited you must be about the release of Ride a Cock Horse so I'm really glad you could drop by.
Thanks so much for having me Raven!
Q        We'll get this one over first, tell us a little bit about yourself.
A         I have 3 handsome sons who are incredible. My day job is working for a biotech company doing hardware and software troubleshooting. A jack-of-all-trades sort of job. By night, I let my imagination run wild and write. It is one of my passions—that and chocolate. When I was young, I tried my hand at drawing but failed miserably at getting what I saw in my head on paper. So instead, I use words to paint a picture. I'm also a little flighty, ever-changing I guess you could say, and a closet rock star. My debut as an author is for the Breathless Press Naughty Nursery Rhyme line.
Q        Thanks, now we can probe a bit more.  How do you relax?
A         Relax? I'm not sure I know how to relax. I love to read, listen to music, and write of course. Occasionally, I like to have dinner with friends, maybe a few drinks. And I am a huge sports fan (baseball and football) so I watch the games when I can. I will go to one or two during the season if I can manage to get tickets.
Q        What is your favorite genre to read, and why?
A         That would be a hard choice. I love all genres really but I am partial to historicals, fantasy, and paranormal roamance. There is something in the fantasy elements that intrigues me. I like to get lost in other worlds of possibility.

Q        and of course to write, and why?
A         I write contemporary erotic romance although I like to emphasize the romance part of my writing. I am a romantic at heart so I infuse the things I find romantic into my stories. I like to write what I know. My characters usually have some element of my life or personality, which makes them more special to me. My debut launched on May 25th.
Ride a Cock Horse
Not even a cock horse could bring musician Hunter Blake back to Banbury Cross, yet here he stood, ten years after leaving, to make amends for his past behavior and win back his true love, Katherine Banbury. Their relationship was in perfect harmony until Hunter's excessive drinking tore them apart. Now sober, he's focused on doing whatever it takes to prove he's worthy of her love.

Kate spent the last ten years determined to forget Hunter. With a developer intent on turning her ancestral home into tract housing, Kate had her hands full. When Hunter returns, vivid memories of their passionate history stoke the flames of desire between them. Will Kate fight the attraction or will she open her heart to love once more?

I also have another erotic romance, a cougar f/m/f menage that I co-authored with Karyn Gerrard coming out in November with Breathless Press and I am really excited about this one as well. It was a lot of fun to write.

Q        Where do you prefer to read? (or write) What do you wear? And eat? (OK, I know this is cheating as well, but we need all the gen in our naughty nine)
A         I have a special chair that I will only share with the cat and I like to read there. I also read in bed but I tend to fall asleep so if I am engrossed in a book, I'll use my chair. When I'm at home I am a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl and I also wear sweats. I like comfort. As for eating, coffee during the day, tea at night. I don't usually eat while I read although occasionally I will snack on fruit or yogurt. Or popcorn. I have a little corner in my dining room where I write. One day I would like to create a perfect space but for now, I have to make do with what I have.

Q        So three things you love
A         My sons (I have 3), chocolate, the smell of fresh cut grass. I could really go on and on about what I love. Line dried sheets, rare steak, Chinese food...the list goes on.

Q        Three you don't
A         Being cold. Dishonesty. Waking before sunrise to get up for work. (I'm a night owl)

Q        Three things you would like to happen in the next three years? Feel free to add to the three things you don't,
A         I'd like to be a little more financially secure. I'd like to have several more books published. I'd like to take a family vacation.

Q lastly the quick fire round... Favorite...
Color: Right now, it's green (that flighty thing - it changes all the time)
Book of all time: Lord of the Rings Trilogy (I try to read them every year)
piece of music: Everything Changes by Staind.
That's it painless eh?

  4. Great interview, Gayl! I like how you said you "use words to paint a picture". That's the way it felt when I read Ride a Cock Horse. It was easy to imagine and feel what was going on in the story. I'm looking forward to more books from you!

    1. Thanks D.F. I find it very hard to talk about myself - I'm the private and shy sort.
