Where I pinch myself to see if I'm dreaming

Seriously, as we roll into December, I have to stop and think...you what? This is me, books out...lots of books.

Less than two years ago, I had two terrible M/S under my belt, both written years earlier, and an abysmal first chapter for a competition, where as I have often said I wrote as I thought I should, not as I could. All quite rightly rejected.

Then I did write as I could, and it was me! My voice.

Luckily editors seemed to like my voice, and just over a year ago my first story was published.

It hasn't all been plain sailing, not by any means, but I can happily say, ohh I'm over the moon.

I've been privileged to have great editors and publishers (well re pubs 2 out of 3 are; one we won't mention) and lots of fabulous encouragement from my crit group.

I've made friends (and no doubt some non friends) learned so much, and enjoyed almost all of it. It's been a very steep learning curve... I never knew how terrible my grammar was, or what a comma splice is. I do now!

Every baby step adds up and I've come a long way.

So now back to this next month. Rightly or wrongly, I seem to have Raven books en masse. Luckily we kick off today with a free read. Where There's A Will, available from Evernight Publishing. I re-read this hot m/m Regency short story and I was ohh, whew! lol
And the cover.... In fact I think my two favorite covers are out today and tomorrow ( 29th and 30th)

Because tomorrow The Best Man's Bridesmaid is released from Breathless Press. It's also Regency, but very, very, different. A lot sweeter, though someone did say the words Raven and Sweet do not go together! *whistles innocently* What do they mean?

It seems I've found my niche! Regency keeps drawing me in, even though I do still like writing contemporary romance, and will continue to do so.

Anyway, enough of the ramblings. This is really a big thank you to all of you for reading, listening, commenting and supporting me.

I'm posting these two covers. If you'd be so kind to comment and say which you prefer, and why, I'll pick one person to receive an ebook of their choice from my back list. That way you'll get to see all the other great covers.

So here we are ....

However if you have another cover you prefer, let me know...and why!

Happy reading

Oh do I have news for you. C.R. Moss and R M Sotera are here

Hi all! I’m happy to be a guest here today and talking about mine and my writing partner’s current release ~ the second book in the Double D Ranch Tales, Wild West Hauntings. Thanks, Raven, for having me!
For today, I was asked what the inspiration was behind the book/series and how we wrote the book.
The germ of an idea for the Double D Ranch Tales series started when I took a vacation at a working ranch and was around the cowboys, campfires, cattle, horses, eating outdoors… Well, you get the picture. So, my muse started asking, “What if?” What if there were a couple of friends who went to a ranch to get away from their lives for a bit? What if they hooked up with a couple of sexy cowboys? My writing partner and I had already worked on one project together, and when I got home, I called her up and said, “Guess what we’re writing next.” We work well together, and when we get together to brainstorm, the ideas and words just flow. Wild West Hauntings (book 2) came about from one of our sessions where we tossed around concepts for the follow up story to Wild West Weekend (book 1). Then as we worked on Wild West Hauntings, the series morphed into something great. We even started notes on story number four, which was going to be story three until we were hanging out downtown one afternoon and came up with a honeymoon story that took the third spot in the series and bumped the other story to the next slot. And we have inklings of ideas for book five!
As for how the books were written, for the first one we each did two separate stories then wove them together. For the second one, we each worked on parts of the story as it was written. The third one is working out the same as the second. In each of the books there’s a main story line and then the sub-stories revolving around other character. Think of it like a soap opera where all the characters are together and there’s something they’re all involved with, but they also have separate stuff happening. :)
So, without further ado, here’s the information on Wild West Hauntings, the second book in the Double D Ranch Tales saga.
~ Blurb for Wild West Hauntings ~ An Editor’s Pick!
Double D Ranch Tales, 2
In life and the afterlife, on the Double D Ranch one belief holds true—the power of love changes lives.
With cowboys, ghosts, modern day women, hot dreams, pre-wedding relations and a bit of sexy time travel, life promises to be one wild time on the ranch again.
Rachel Star has met the man of her dreams … literally. Too bad he’s a ghost. When true love crosses boundaries from dreams to reality and across time, the Double D ranch is the place it happens. It takes the love of a man from the past, Dalton Dougan, to bring love full circle in the present for Rachel.
Bristol Ashcombe, soon to be Dougan, is ready to have her baby … and so is a poltergeist. Can the love of a woman for her man and child sustain her during the most horrible of terrors? Can the love between family and friends really dispel the evil haunting them?

~ Excerpt ~
… “You guys look like you’ve seen a ghost. What gives?”
Marianne gulped. “I think we did. And when did you learn to play the piano?”
Rachel’s gaze flitted around the room. Bristol, who still sat in the rocker, had gone white again. Even the men seemed out of sorts, staring at her like she’d grown two heads.
“Excuse me? I was just sitting by the fire.” She went to point down at the hearth, which wasn’t there, but several feet away. Spinning to look behind her to gain her bearings, she almost whacked her knee on the piano bench. A chill scuttled through her body. She turned back to the women. How?
“Yeah.” Cassie bobbed her head as if agreeing with her thought. “You were totally zoned out. Didn’t hear us at all. When you got up and went to the piano, I thought Marianne was going to totally lose it. At first there was a haze to the left of you.” Cassie held up her smartphone. “See? We caught pictures. Then after you stopped playing.” Cassie moved her finger around on the device then showed it. “The orb at your lower back is particularly interesting.”
Rachel snatched the phone away from her, quickly flipped through the pictures on the small screen. Fingering the photos back and forth, her heart rate beat a frantic staccato. They were right. In the images, she looked zoned out, like the flickering of the fire had put her in a state of self-hypnosis. Just as Cassie had said, a translucent, milky white shimmer floated in the air near her in most of the photos, while a red haze clung to her form. A few toward the end showed bright fluffy looking spheres amassing next to the piano. Then a huge one drifted toward her back in the last picture.
The same area Dalton touched me. She swallowed hard. Tamping down the rush of panic zooming through her brain and the flux of bile rising in her throat, she put on a brave, hopefully unruffled, face. “These are…” Hating the way her voice and hand shook as she handed back the phone, she took a deep breath, then continued, “Quite interesting. Sure your lens isn’t dirty?”
Cassie shrugged. “It could be, but then why didn’t the smudges stay in one place? The haze moved around. Don’t you think it’s a bit freaky?”

RED is ... HOT... 10 things you MUST know about Red...Red Hot by Ann B Harrison

RED HOT - ANN B HARRISON

TEN THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT RED

1. Six foot, two inches, auburn hair long enough to run your fingers through and grip tight while... um let's not go there just yet. We just met. He has the most beautiful emerald eyes and toned body though that I, sorry that you can drool over.

2. Releases his sexual tension riding his Ducati down the coast road when all he wants is the right woman to take him to bed and love him for what he is.

3. Geeky scientists are cool - really they are. Look at Red. He's hot!!!

4. Grew up the only child of a dyed in the wool scientist who couldn't see past his microbes and germs. Is it any wonder Red has grown up challenged in the dating game?

5.He would rather lay down his beloved Ducati on the road than run over a small animal. Awwhhhhhhhh.

6.He has no idea how drop dead gorgeous he is, but I do and I kiss and tell.

7.Blind as a bat without his thick lensed glasses. They make him look more of a nerd than what he is.

8. He is floored by the fact that Rhian can take him to bed and blow his mind on their second meeting. He would be horrified/impressed if he found out she had to hold herself back on the day she picked him up from the road.

9. Not only is he sensitive to animals but he would rather work for very little than design popular drugs that only the rich could afford. What a sweet guy.

10.As a small boy, he was told Father Christmas didn't exist. Or super hero's for that matter. His father wanted him to grow up with the truth, even if it hurt him to start with.

Blurb...

An erotic contemporary romance with paranormal elements.
Total honesty or hot sex. Will their love survive both?

To ward off his sexual frustration, Red Douglas rides his motorbike up the coastal highway pushing the limits of speed and endurance.
When he crashes at the front door of local witch, Rhian Gallagher, she takes it as a sign the Fates have listened to her plea to end the man drought in her life. Determined to take the shy scientist under her wing and into her bed as soon as possible, Rhian patches him up after his accident.
Will the explosive sex between them be enough to convince Red his scientific view of the world can be reconciled with Rhian’s witchcraft?

Smack my hands I'm too late...

Tea (well wine) and sympathy please, I was too late to sign for Six Sunday. This is no ones fault except mine. I've spent all week thinking, sign up, I must sign up. So in the early hours of Sunday, I switch on lap top...net down! Head bangs on desk.

I go to bed, and get up early to try again. I'd forgotten all the clock changes and I'm too late. My ICal now has a big reminder scrawled all over it!

It's been one helluva month. I've been on holiday, and oh how I've enjoyed myself. I was somewhat uncertain if I'd get on the net at all but yay, only one place didn't have it at all. One tried to change their minds about it being free, but DH soon sorted that out. Their excuse? Well you've never needed it before ...(He stays there a lot for work.) His reply? Well I do now!

One other place was amazed when I said why don't they promote the fact they have free wi-fi? After all, when some places want to charge you $20-40 a day, free wi-fi is a wondrous thing. Especially when you're inbox stalking.

Anyway, holidays. It's complicated because you don't want to advertise you're away and the house is empty, but you want to share all the great times you've had, and all the amazing places you went to.

This is Canal Rocks in Western Australia

So I was able to inbox stalk. Schedule a couple of blogs, and chat on facebook. Email the kids and keep in touch.

When I think the first few times we went abroad, you'd have to queue at a phone box, to ring home and say you'd arrived safely, and that was it. Now we send texts and emails for instant connection, and it's great. The net has transformed our lives.

Not that I think mobile phones are always a good thing. Hint to DH, checking your emails on top of a hill in the Lake District or at a very nice restaurant is not very romantic!

And getting a phone call the minute you land in Perth, Western Australia from a colleague of DH who wants to know if he'll be back in the office later, because  he thought DH had gone to Perth Scotland, a mere 40 miles away. Er no...

However, to be able to talk, check on things and yes Inbox stalk is amazing. Not that I chose our hotels etc by the fact they have free wi-fi, but it doesn't half sway me :)

We flew to Hong Kong, where DH worked and I er worked, although my working was lap top by the pool, and sightseeing ...for research you understand! (oh and testing the wine...as you do.)
After a couple of glasses I could almost look at the view from the 76th floor pool...Almost.

I confess I didn't go that close to the glass wall...

And so on. No I won't bore you with all my holiday stories and snaps. We met up with friends, caught up with gossip, had great food and wine and came home refreshed.

Well I did, because DH had to stop on and work.

I say refreshed, because I got all half way around the world with no hiccups...until I was back in blighty!

The landing into Glasgow was the worst I've ever had and believe me you rarely get a smooth landing there. The plane was going up and down, slower then faster and the noise the wind made...Well lets just say if the characters from someones zombie or vamp book has sat beside me I wouldn't have batted an eyelid. At one point even the cabin crew's eyes widened. That might have been when the emergency exit signs started flashing!

Anyway we landed, I drove home, through ever deepening and lengthening puddles. I got to one bit that usually floods and there was nothing. Woo Hoo I thought, I'll be home soon.

How wrong can a girl be? It was ten hours later! I got to within an mile of home, to find our village flooded. Luckily I have a friend who lives the town side of the flood, and up a hill so she took pity on me.Fed me, watered me (wined me lol) and had a bed ready for me if it was needed. Thankfully I managed not impose on her too long, and by 9pm was at home. But oh so tired. They say you don't get jet lag coming east to west, nevertheless I was shattered. Though I managed to stay awake to revert to UK time, I was still swaying.

After that you'd have thought DH would be fine. Hahahaha. No his plane from Heathrow was 'poorly' and he finally got in two hours late. And two hours later had to go out for work! So no wonder I forgot to sign up for six sunday.

And so I'd better do a wee plug or two.

On 29th November I have a free read coming out from Evernight Publishing
