Mik on Tuesday—with a Guardian

The Guardian is Awakening

Please welcome the talented and lovely Michaela Rhua, and Guardian Awakening...

Secrets and Lies.
I want to briefly talk about hidden secrets, a topic that keeps coming to mind. You see I try to keep my writing side away from the everyday me. I like having something that is just mine, away from the everyday. Often when I am with friends who are not hugely close, I wonder what they would think of their friend writing sensual fiction as I do! Then I smiles at my own secret.
Maybe that's why in this series: The Guardian Series, (which starts with Guardian Awakening and the next is Guardian Possession) I focus on character's who have hidden secrets, known or unknown.
Romy has tried to live her own life and make her own choices. Only she did not bargain on Essen looking for her. They meet and there is a connection, something they both cannot deny. Only he is keeping something from her too. As you would expect it all comes out, when Essen has to make a choice.
Zachriel, in Guardian Possession thinks his life is clear cut – serve the Dark Master, Capture one of the enemy (Royanne) and seek revenge for the way they hurt you. Life is not as straight forward as that. For Zachriel the hidden past comes out slowly, which means he has to look at his life all over again and work out the truth from the lies – and he's been told some big lies!
The only thing with trying to keep secrets is that it can have a way of coming out. I might after a few too many red wines blurt out what I write, when friend are going on about the evils of erotic tales etc. That will really let the cat out the bag.
Love MR x

 Guardian Awakening By Michaela Rhua.

When a runaway meets a Guardian out for revenge, two worlds collide. Can love conquer all, or is their relationship doomed before it even started?
Essen is out for revenge, and exotic dancer Romy is his target. After the struggle for control of the Gateway between the human world and the supernatural world brings tragedy, this Guardian Demon will stop at nothing to get what he wants: retribution! From the moment they first meet, sparks fly between them, and they cannot deny the connection they have, even if she seems to be hiding her true identity. But how is this possible when they are from two different worlds? Can their love overcome the tormented history that divides them? When Romy is kidnapped, Essen must face his true feelings before it's too late.

He gently cradled her hand, enjoying the closeness
of her as he applied the ice to her wrist. He could smell her
floral perfume, and her warmth reached out to him. It had been so
long since he had wanted to feel close with anyone, but he could
not understand why it felt right with her. He closed his eyes and
inhaled. Damn it, she was so irresistible. He wanted her so badly,
naked underneath him.

When he opened his eyes, he found her staring up at him, her
eyes soft and tender. She slowly lifted her free hand and touched
his face gently. He felt that soft touch breaking though the barrier
he had created around his heart.

He stepped forward, holding her gaze with his. That movement
stilled her, just as he knew it would. But the touch did more.
He placed a finger on her lips, which quivered underneath. The
look of helplessness in her gray eyes somehow touched him deep
inside. Could the ice around his heart be melting? Unable to stop
himself, he slipped his hand around her head, holding it still
while letting the ice in his other hand fall to the floor. The clattering
noise seemed distant to Essen as he snaked his arm around
her waist. So curvy, but he knew that already. She did not resist;
in fact, she seemed to welcome it. He felt her hands stroke up his
arms to his shoulders.

He lowered his head and brushed a soft kiss on her lips. That
brief taste was enough to throw his plan out of the window. He
needed more, now.

#SexySnippets and A Matter of Faith

I had no idea which book to take my #SexySnippet from today, so I let the mouse choose.

“I myself,” he said in a conversational manner, “would hap- pily take you here, and let you scream your completion to the world. However, I value my cock and my balls, and would prefer them not to become my disembodied body parts. If Arthur got wind of our doings, I fear it may well be the outcome.”
Put like that, she didn’t want them separated from Justin ei- ther. Leonora nodded, and firmed her lips. He understood, and to her delight, dropped a swift kiss to her forehead.
“Good girl, now hold on.”

Read and Like Saturday with Mark Morris...

A new weekly glimpse into a reader's murky mind.

Today's victim, er guinea pig, er guest is Mark Morris.

Over to you Mark...

I have a confession to make. I'm an 'other world' addict. I'm not a gamer or a cos-play enthusiast and I don't have a collection of Japanese Samurai swords that'd make the local police keen to interview me at length in the overnight holding cells but I do have a significantly strong desire to escape from my nine-to-five world as often as I can.
Now, I'm not fussy about the world I vacation in. I'd be equally as happy spending time with Louis Wu on Larry Niven's Ringworld as I would be fighting immeasurable odds in the kingdoms of George R R Martin's Game of Thrones world but what I do insist upon is a well-realised alternate reality populated by credible well-written characters of all moral types. I love science-fiction, fantasy and horror, dystopian drama and even alternative history yarns but the key is in the details and in the credibility of the people and the stories that we share head space with.
It's a common misconception that anyone can write fantasy and that all you have to do to write a character out of a bad situation is to suspend reality and twist a few physical laws and 'bob's your uncle' and the hero springs free. And maybe that did happen in the old black and white Buck Rogers' movies but the modern readership is far more demanding. If you're going to turn an odious step-parent into a wart hog you need a genetic disposition toward spell-casting and an owl-delivered invite to an academy that nurtures young talents like yours. So it requires a keen mind and a sound storytelling skill to be able to successfully carry anything like this off and make a living out of it.
I grew up reading the classics; Asimov's robots' stories, Heinlein's space sagas and Herbert's Dune trilogy of three which has now grown to at least fifteen books in length, and I moved on from this onto the 'softer' realms of fantasy which are even more difficult to realise and write credibly. I dropped by Stephen King and James Herbert, relishing all the gore – and the regular sex scenes – that resulted from this cross-over genre that takes the best of both, placing incredible creatures in contemporary settings with invariably gruesome results.
So, if I'm not writing my own attempts in any of these genres, I could quite easily be spending my spare time partying with Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden or kicking demon ass with Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan. Or I could be killing people with King or doing many barely imaginable things in a multitude of genres. But whatever I'm doing, it'll probably not be the slightest bit like what I do when I work for a living.

SIn's Flower and Carlene

Come on in and enjoy...

What a pleasure it is for me to be here today!  Lovely blog home, Raven.  It’s nice and dark and as my favorite band says, “I’ve always loved the night.”  Which is why I can’t seem to stop writing about those other night stalkers…not our beloved vampires but rock stars!  One of these days, my muse may finally have her fill of them but I hope that’s a long time to come.  I’m especially fond of Sin’s Flower’s hero, Jaxon.  Can we please do a group sigh over the fact he’s a super hot single dad and trying his best to be good…it’s just so hard, right?  Sigh.  Thank you for indulging me today and I hope you enjoy the sneak peek I’ve brought along of Jaxon’s story.  Love stories rock!
Carlene Love

Sin’s Flower Blurb:
When Jaxon James, a sexy rock star and struggling single-father, is invited to ditch California and spend Christmas in Tennessee with his estranged family, he hesitantly accepts for his young daughter’s sake.  But his attraction to his best friend’s baby sister, Lily Elstone, threatens to unravel the bonds he’s made for his daughter.  The honorable thing to do would be to give up Lily.  But his instincts are telling him she’s exactly the one who could bring light to his life and the missing fire to his bed.  Unfortunately, Lily's too sweet for his world.  He fears his rock and roll life style will taint her.   How far are Jaxon and Lily willing to go to find what’s missing at home?

Sin’s Flower Excerpt:
Jaxon watched Lily’s hands sinking down into the sand from behind as hesitancy chopped up his steps.  Years of ending up in dire situations had made him a decisive man when he needed to be.  He was making one of those executive decisions right now.  It didn’t matter why she’d come.  And he was close to dismissing his reluctance over whose baby sister she was.  Not when she wore that swishing angelic lavender top that covered her from neck to shoulder to fingertip, driving him insane with curiosity.  God, and that flaming hair which had gone from neon just yesterday to a flattering shade of cinnamon temptation tonight.  His grip tightened around the folding chairs he’d gone to fetch.  Purposefully, he slowed down.
Then stopped.
Wanting her was one thing, but hurting this young woman was not okay.
Standing back, he took another couple minutes to contemplate what could happen tonight.  What he could control and make happen.
He knew they should talk.  He just hoped she didn’t mind how close he intended on being to her while that happened.  His grip loosened and one of the folding lounge chairs fell to the sand.  There would be plenty of room for the both of them on the one.  He walked until he made it back to her side and unfolded the chair to its full length.
“Uh, hi,” she said shyly, her brow furrowing in concentration.
“Hey.”  He sat down and held his arms out to assist her.  “Sit with me?”  He hadn’t given her much of a choice and caught her eye scanning the sandy trail where he’d come from.  “Yeah, I figured we didn’t need that one.”
“Oh, okay.  Wait, just so we’re clear here.  You want me to sit, where exactly?”
God, she would kill him tonight.  That amount of cute couldn’t be faked.  “Here, with me.”  Her eyes widened in disbelief so he scooted until he was flush with the back of the nylon chair and then opened his legs, letting one straddle each side.  “There’s room.”
“You’re crazy,” she said shaking her head.
He let out a faked huff.  His quick decision had been too fast for her and she wouldn’t believe this was his way of comforting her.  “I’ll go fetch the other chair.”
She gouged her hand into her hip.  “Wait.  It’s just…I really don’t think I’m gonna fit.”
A hurricane couldn’t have swayed her decision to stay put.  But she eventually bent her knees, bracing herself with strong hands, and lowered herself until her squeezable bottom met the chair.  Because he wanted her closer, he took the liberty of placing his hands at each side of her waist and scooted her back until she was flush with his chest and his lap.
On second thought, that was way too close.
Someone would kill him for the throbbing going on so close to their little sister.  He wiggled an inch of space between Lily and his now obvious and straining erection.  The last thing he wanted to do was leave her thinking he was incapable of a conversation without sex ending up front and center.  He had amazing amounts of control in that department.  It came along with all the years he’d practiced on the road.  Tonight, plainly put, he just wanted to be close to someone, to Lily.  And this was the way he knew how to do that.
“So what did you want to talk about?” he asked.
“I, I don’t know.”  It sounded like nerves had her.
They didn’t have to start with words.  Fuck him for his appetite but he could say more by doing this anyway.
Hey you, horny fucker.  This is the part where you pat her on the head, say you’re sorry, and send her back to her big sister.  This is not the time for indulging.  Pack it up, Jaxon.
Yeah, no questions about it.  That’s what he should do.

A bit about Carlene:
Carlene Love Flores is a big fan of the stars (especially Orion), honest music (especially Depeche Mode), and her travelling family (no favorites there-she loves them all). These things have always inspired her to think up edgy, intimate love stories and continue to do so. If she could touch someone’s heart with her writing the way others have done for her, she’d say truly there never lived a luckier girl.
